Cheruchakkichola is a serene Reserve Forest located at Kandanchira near Chittanda. The place also has a Goddess Karthiyayani Temple which is one among the one hundred and eight shrines consecrated by Lord Parasurama. The place has a small waterfall, a check dam, tribal deities and a watch tower at the end of a five kilometer trek constructed by the Forest Department. Post monsoon (June to October) is the best time to visit the place. The place is associated with a tribal chief Poongodan and his daughter Cheru Chakki, which gave the place its name. The Ecotourism Department has plans to develop this place a sustainable tourism spot. The place can be accessed from the Forest check post by trekking or by jeep. Scenic rock quarries are also seen near this site.


  • Located 25 km from Thrissur; Chercuchakki Chola can be accessed from Chittanda which can be accessed from Wadakkancheri – Kunnamkulam Road. One has to trek to reach the waterfalls.
