Abdul Rahman Sahib was a freedom fighter and he belonged to Azhikkode near Kodungallur. His house is built in the traditional Kerala architectural style, known as Nalukettu and has been converted into a museum on Freedom Struggle under Muziris Heritage Project. This museum showcases the sacrifices and achievements of Mohammed Abdul Rahman Sahib as a social reformer as well as freedom fighter and is informative through video displays and information boards. This double storied Nalukettu building consists of a number of rooms, courtyard and an open verandah. There are three openings; one is positioned at the west and the rest at the eastern side. The ground floor has four rooms joined together with a center courtyard open to the sky. A staircase provided at the northern side of the central courtyard leads to the first floor and the first floor consists of two small rooms.

Visiting Tips

  • Food and drink cannot be brought into the Museum.
  • Flash photography and video cameras cannot be used inside the Museum.
  • Luggage and carry-on bags are not allowed in the Museum and they must be checked in at the entrance.
