Also known as Anakotta, the palace grounds of the erstwhile Rajas of Punnathoor is today home to about 50 temple elephants belonging to the Guruvayur Temple. All the elephants here are offerings from the devotees and the camp is the only one of its kind in the world. There is also an ancient temple where Lord Shiva and Goddess Bhagavathy are worshipped. During the month July elephants are given special ayurvedic treatment and food.
