Located nearby Guruvayur Temple is the Mammiyur Mahadeva Temple. It is believed that a trip to Guruvayur is not complete, if one does not visit Mammiyur temple as every devotee who goes to Guruvayur Temple is supposed to go to Mammiyur also, as the ritual goes. The temple is a part of the 108 famous Shiva temples in Kerala and one among the five Shiva temples around Guruvayur. This temple has Lord Shiva as the main deity and there are shrines for the Lord’s family Goddess Parvathi, Lord Ganapati, Lord Muruga and Lord Ayyappa, , Lord Vishnu, Nagas, Goddess Bhadrakali and Brahmarakshas are also installed in the temple. Lord Shiva is facing east and is in ‘rowdrabhava’ and later an idol of Lord Vishnu was also installed to reduce the anger of Lord Shiva. This temple is managed by Malabar Devaswom Board and Shivarathri and Ashtami Rohini are the major festivals.
