This famous shrine located in Cherpu is dedicated to Lord Dharma Shastha in standing posture with arch and a bow. The Lord is worshipped as the divine protector of the whole village settlement. Thousands bring their children to this well constructed temple for the initiation into the excitement of knowledge on Vijaya Dasami during the Navarathri festival. In fact, the name itself translates as ‘the abode of wisdom’.  There are five Sastha temples in this vicinity including Thiruvullakkavu, Chathakudam, Kanimangalam and Arattupuzha. Legend also says that Lord Parasurama consecrated four Sastha shrines infour borders and this temple at the centre of ancient Peruvanam village.
