Built in 1925 and blessed in 1940, this Church is popularly known as ‘Puthen Palli’. With its three-storied façade and even higher steeples that tower above the town’s skyline, this is claimed to be the biggest and tallest church in Asia. An architectural marvel, the church has triple towers built in the Gothic style, an array of fifteen altars and musical church bells imported from Germany. The ceiling is adorned with beautiful mural paintings of the Holy Trinity. Other highlights are the wall paintings, the crypts and the Perpetual Adoration Centre. The Bible Tower is the tallest church tower in Asia. The seventy nine metre (two hundred and sixty feet) tower stands behind two towers of forty two and a half meters (one hundred and forty feet) height. The earthquake proof tower has facilities for viewing the City of Thrissur over an area of eighteen kilometers. A passenger lift is available up to forty two and a half meters (one hundred and sixty feet) where a viewers' platform has been made to accommodate two hundred and fifty persons. The viewers have to climb the steps from there to the top of the tower. There is a red cross on the top of the Bible Tower which can be seen from anywhere of the City of Thrissur and it represents the presence of the Catholics in City of Thrissur. In the tower we can see childhood of Christ carved in wood, healing of Jesus depicted in stained glass, miracles of Jesus in brass, sufferings of Jesus Christ in oil paints, beautiful painting of apostles in terra cotta, mural paintings of the life history of St. Thomas, and glorious resurrection of Jesus depicted in canvas.
